What Is Paradoxical Hypertrichosis
Paradoxical hypertrichosis is a condition where hair becomes thicker or more widespread after laser treatments, especially in hormonal areas like the face, neck, or chest.
This happens because laser relies on pigment and heat. In some people, particularly those with hormonal sensitivities, the stimulation can actually encourage nearby follicles to grow.
This is one of the most common reasons clients come to electrolysis after laser.
Electrolysis does not cause paradoxical hypertrichosis because it targets individual follicles directly, without stimulating surrounding tissue.
If you’ve noticed increased hair growth after laser, you’re not imagining it. And you’re not alone. Electrolysis is often the corrective solution when this occurs.
