Starting electrolysis can feel both exciting and a little uncertain. This guide walks you through exactly what to expect before, during, and after your first appointment so you can feel prepared and confident.

Please:

  • stop tweezing or waxing (shaving is okay)

  • allow visible hair growth

  • hydrate well the day before

  • avoid heavy caffeine right before treatment

  • avoid active exfoliants on treatment area

  • arrive with clean skin

Visible hair is necessary for accurate treatment.

During

You can expect:

  • one-on-one private treatment

  • skin cleansing and prep

  • precision follicle treatment

  • short sensation per hair treated

  • periodic comfort check-ins

Most clients describe the sensation as brief and tolerable.

After

Normal short-term responses include:

  • mild redness

  • slight swelling

  • temporary sensitivity

This usually settles within hours to a few days depending on area and density treated.

  • Electrolysis works across hair growth cycles. Multiple sessions are required to permanently treat active follicles as they appear. The amount of time needed depends on many variables: coarseness, density, hormonally motivated, and consistency of treatments.

    Consistency = faster visible progress

  • Yes. Shaving is okay between visits. Avoid plucking or waxing.

  • Your first visit length depends on area and density. I suggest no more than an hour on your initial visit to gauge your skin’s tolerance.

  • Yes. Treated follicles cannot produce hair again.
