How Many Times Does a Hair Need to Be Treated Before It’s Gone Forever?

One of the most common questions I hear is, “How many times do you have to treat a hair before it’s gone forever?”

Here’s the thing: hair growth happens in cycles. Each hair follicle has three main stages — active growth (anagen), resting (catagen), and shedding (telogen). Electrolysis is most effective during the anagen phase, when the hair is actively growing and fully attached to the follicle.

Because not all hairs are in the same stage at the same time, it takes multiple treatments to catch each one in the right phase.

So, how many times?

  • Each follicle may only need one effective treatment if caught in the perfect growth phase.

  • Realistically, several treatments per follicle are needed to ensure it never produces hair again.

  • With consistency, clients start noticing slower regrowth and thinner hairs within just a few months.

Electrolysis is a process of persistence, but every appointment is progress. With each session, you’re reducing the number of active follicles until eventually, they’re gone for good.
