What Side Effects Will I Experience After Treatment (and How Skin Acclimates Over Time)

Electrolysis is safe and effective, but like any treatment, it can cause short-term side effects. I want my clients to feel prepared, so here’s what’s normal after a session:

  • Redness and swelling: Usually fades within a few hours.

  • Tiny scabs: These are part of the healing process and should never be picked.

  • Temporary dark spots (hyperpigmentation): More common on melanin-rich skin, but usually fade with time.

  • Dryness or sensitivity: Your skin may feel tender but calms down quickly.

Here’s the encouraging part: your skin adapts! After your first few sessions, reactions may feel stronger, but as your skin acclimates, the healing process speeds up. Many clients find they bounce back faster with each visit.

So don’t worry if your first treatment leaves you a little pink — it’s temporary, and your skin will adjust beautifully as we continue.
