Not Seeing Results You Expected? Questions to Ask Yourself and Your Electrologist

It’s completely normal to have moments during your electrolysis journey where you pause and wonder, “Is this working the way it should?”

Electrolysis is permanent, but it isn’t instant. Results don’t always show up the way people expect, especially if you’re comparing your progress to someone else’s or to unrealistic timelines you’ve seen online.

If you’re feeling discouraged, here are a few important questions to ask before assuming something is wrong.

Am I being consistent with my appointments?

Consistency matters more than almost anything. Gaps between sessions allow new hairs to cycle in and slow overall progress.

Do I understand hair growth cycles?

Not all hair is visible at the same time. Some hairs haven’t even entered the growth phase yet. Progress often looks uneven before it looks dramatic.

Are hormones playing a role?

Conditions like PCOS, thyroid changes, stress, or medication shifts can cause new hairs to appear. This doesn’t mean electrolysis isn’t working. It means your body is still producing hair in untreated follicles.

Am I communicating openly with my electrologist?

If something feels off, ask. A good electrologist wants you to understand the process and feel confident in your treatment plan.

Electrolysis is a long-term investment in yourself. Progress isn’t always loud, but it is real. If you’re unsure, the best next step is always a conversation, not self-doubt.
